For the Most Demanding Schedules

We stock and source a full range of pressure vessel, structural, quenched & tempered and chrome-moly carbon steel plate. Over the years we’ve built our reputation on supplying the highest quality material with an eye for detail throughout the cutting process while meeting the most demanding delivery schedules for our customers. We offer full plates and cut-to-size profiles up to 12” thick!

All plates are sourced from reputable mills in North America and Western Europe. We ensure all plates and profiles are clearly identified with the mill, heat, and slab number and include MTR’s / C of C’s as required.

Stocked Grades:

Typical stock sizes are 96″/120″ wide and 240″/288″/384″/480″ long. Thicknesses starting at 3/16″ up to 12″ are regularly available.

ASTM/ASME 516 GRADE 70

  • Utilized primarily in welded pressure vessels
  • As rolled condition available up to 1-1/2″ thick
  • Normalized condition available where improved notch toughness is important
  • Normalized plate is heat treated to make the steel more ductile and tough after being subjected to a hardening process. This involves heating the material to an elevated temperature then allowing it to cool back to room temperature. Normalizing aims to give the steel a uniform and fine-grained structure. The process is used to obtain a predictable microstructure and an assurance of the mechanical properties.
  • Majority of our stocked normalized plate is impact tested to determine the impact resistance or toughness of the material by calculating the amount of energy absorbed during fracture. The impact test is performed at various temperatures to uncover any effects on impact energy.
  • Mechanical Properties: Tensile Strength 70 to 90 KSI / Yield Strength 38 KSI min

ASME SA387 GRADES 11 & 22

  • Chromium-molybdenum alloy steel plates
  • This material is primarily intended for applications in refineries and power plants
  • Designed with elevated temperatures and limited corrosion concerns in mind
  • These grades can be specified in either Class 1 or 2
  • Gr 11. Class 1 Mechanical Properties: Tensile Strength 60 to 85 KSI / Yield Strength 35 KSI min
  • Gr 11. Class 2 Mechanical Properties: Tensile Strength 75 to 100 KSI / Yield Strength 45 KSI min
  • Gr 22. Class 1 Mechanical Properties: Tensile Strength 60 to 85 KSI / Yield Strength 30 KSI min
  • Gr 22. Class 2 Mechanical Properties: Tensile Strength 75 to 100 KSI / Yield Strength 45 KSI min

ASTM A36/ASME SA36 & 44W

  • Widely accepted general purpose low-carbon mild steel with excellent fabrication properties
  • Typical applications include general fabrication and construction of buildings, bridges, and other structures (SA36 can also be used in boiler & pressure vessel applications)
  • 44W is also referred to as 300W (its metric designation)
  • A36 Mechanical Properties: Tensile Strength 58 to 80 KSI / Yield Strength 36 KSI min
  • SA36 Mechanical Properties: Tensile Strength 58 to 94 KSI / Yield Strength 36 KSI min
  • 44W Mechanical Properties: Tensile Strength 65 to 85 KSI / Yield Strength 44 KSI min

ASTM A572 GRADE 50 & 50W

  • Higher strength low-alloy steel plate used in a variety of structural applications
  • Suitable for general welded construction where notch toughness at low temperatures is not a design requirement
  • 50W is also referred to as 350W (its metric designation)
  • A572-50 Mechanical Properties: Tensile Strength 65 KSI min / Yield Strength 50 KSI min
  • 50W Mechanical Properties: Tensile Strength 65 to 95 KSI / Yield Strength 50 KSI min

50WT CATEGORY 3 & 4

  • Specifically designed to provide strength and notch toughness at temperatures of -20°F (Cat. 3) & -50°F (Cat. 4)
  • Typical applications include construction equipment and welded construction with specified design requirements
  • ASTM A588, A709 and 50A options available
  • Mechanical Properties: Tensile Strength 65 to 95 KSI / Yield Strength 50 KSI min
  • Cat.3 (-20°F):20 ft/lbs
  • Cat.4 (-50°F):20 ft/lbs

QT 100/ASTM A514 (Various Grades)

  • Quenched & tempered plate used where high strength and good weldability are required in structural applications
  • Improved notch toughness and excellent formability
  • Typical applications include heavy construction and forestry equipment, off-highway vehicles, truck & trailer frames, crane booms and structural applications such as bridges
  • Typical Mechanical Properties: Tensile Strength up to 2.5” thick 110 to 135 KSI over 2.5” to 6” thick 100 to 130 KSI / Yield Strength up to 2.5” thick 100 KSI min over 2.5” to 6” thick 90 KSI min

AR400F

  • Quenched & tempered, through-hardened and abrasion resistant steel plate
  • Used where abrasion resistance, impact toughness, and formability are required
  • Excellent wear resistance and weldability
  • Provides longer wear life and reduces downtime
